The New York Times today carries a story that condenses a huge amount of incredibly bad news into just a few short paragraphs.
Some of the insurgents, in an attempt to prove that they're irredeemable assholes, attacked a group of children playing near an American checkpoint. Earlier versins of the Times story carried multiple first-hand accounts of parents whose kids had been maimed or murdered. Those have been substantially trimmed and moved to the last paragraph of the story at this point, because that sort of thing is a total downer. Other insurgents, in an attempt to prove that they're irredeemable assholes with a good sense of irony, set off a bomb that killed twenty-five people who were part of the funeral procession for a man who had been killed in an insurgent bomb attack. The Iraqi government, in an attemt to prove that it can outdo the insurgents in the irony department, announced that the temporary head of the ministry of oil will be Ahmed Chalabi, or as I think we should be calling him, Mr. Graft. shouldn't we be calling EVERYONE Mr. Graft? It just goes to show that the USA will not be able to influence what happens in Iraq after the troops leave. Bush looks more pathetic with each passing day, GUYPost a Comment |
