Indie Flicks
In today's New York Times, Sally Potter talks about her new movie, Yes:
We were going to shoot in Beirut, but when the war broke out, the insurers would not let us go. So we decided to shoot Beirut in Havana, while we were there shooting the Havana scenes. We had to shoot Havana in the Dominican Republic, because as an American, Joan Allen couldn't travel to Cuba. The film is written and performed in iambic pentameter. Seriously. Sally Potter is an interesting director. I LOVED "Orlando," an absolute (!) must-see and really liked "The Man Who Cried." "The Tango Lesson" I didn't really like, but highly recommend the first two, especially "Orlando" which I INSIST that you see and let me know when you do. GUYPost a Comment |
